Disable Add-ons to Speedup Internet Explorer

When I visited one friend’s house and fixed the cable problem for which she asked for help, she told me her internet was very slow. Then, she showed how she normally surfed the web and send/receive email, all through Internet Explorer. Yes, it was very slow, starting up took about one minute. I looked into her Internet Explorer and found there were too many toolbars installed. I asked and she confirmed she did not use these toolbars and she did not know how these got installed. Then I cleaned all of them and restarted Internet Explorer. Much much faster.

What are Add-ons and why do they appear on your Internet Explorer

Web browser add-ons are applications which can add some functionality to basic web browser. Internet Explorer add-ons include toolbars, ActiveX controls, accelerators, and etc. while some add-ons are build-in Internet Explorer, such as Bing bar, the others are from the Internet thrid-party companies. Normally, an add-on asks for your permission before it gets installed. However, you may not really know what it means before you click the “yes” button.
